K. Ramakrishna Mayyia's romance with vegetarian food began at an early age, inspired by the traditional fare dished out at home. The journey of Sri Mayyia Caterers dates back to decades when K. Ramakrishna Mayyia joined as a chef at a popular eatery in Bangalore. Mayyia's magic in churning out delicacies that appeased the customers made the hotel a household name, the adulation which resulted in K. Ramakrishna Mayyia being promoted as a head chef. Mayyia's magic continued as he changed jobs at two more eateries, before deciding to open his own catering business. Sri Mayyia Caterers was incepted with just 25 staff members and 3 chefs. Owing to the authentic traditional fare, Sri Mayyia Caterers achieved instant acclaim, and soon became synonymous as caterers of traditional vegetarian fare. Over the years, Sri Mayyia Caterers established themselves as one of the top vegetarian caterers in Karnataka. As recognition and adulation grew, Sri Mayyia Caterers expanded their horizon to greater heights. In 1996, K. Ramakrishna Mayyia left this world, but not before he had established brand Mayyia.
The commitment and passion for food continued in the form of K.K. Ramakrishna Mayyia's son, Ananth Mayyia, who took charge of Sri Mayyia Caterers after his father's demise. Having worked over a decade with his father, Ananth Mayyia had learnt the tricks of the trade. While brand Mayyia was established as being authentic traditional caterers, Ananth Mayyia decided to take it to the next level. Ananth Mayyia brought rapid innovations to his catering business by incorporating some of the latest trends. Largely recognized as wedding caterers, Ananth Mayyia broke from this notion, by contemporising his catering business, and venturing into new avenues such as Corporate Lunches, High-profile Parties, Annual Day Events, and more. In constant search of innovation, Ananth Mayyia travelled across the globe, understanding the different cultural and regional food preferences, innovations in wedding catering in foreign countried, and bought his experience home to implement them to suit client preferences. While still retaining the tag of traditional caterers, Sri Mayyia Caterers today offers a variety of food choices in a multitude of cuisines including Chinese, Italian, Mexican, North Indian and many more. Today, Sri Mayyia Caterers boasts of having catered to over 21,000 events and delighting over a million customers with their lip smacking food.
